| Hollywood Series - A Celebration of American Silent Film The Hollywood Series should be an essential part of any film collection! This excellent 13-part series covers the full Silent Era from its earliest beginnings to the start of the talkies. Included are priceless interviews of the stars, directors and techincians who worked in the era. Kevin Brownlow and David Gill were 'the pioneers' who did more to save the history of this golden age then any others. This series spawned many other fine series created by Brownlow and Gill and led to Cinema Europe:The Other Hollywood in 1997 (a three part series on the history of the silent era in Europe). Sadly, David Gill passed away shortly after completion of that project. Kevin Brownlow continues to create and direct new projects like Cecil B. De Mille: America Epic, but The Hollywood Series: A Celebration of American Silent Film is the series that led to the rest.
In an interview with 'STOLEN MOMENTS', Mr. Brownlow mentioned the copyright issues being a problem. A month after this interview, the DVDs were pulled from sale.
