 Top Image - Last Edit In the top image, Chaplin walks on the rooftop with few problems, as if in step to his beautiful score in this wonderful scene. Bottom Image - 1950s Reissue But that was not the case in the early film. Chaplin slips down hard, but quickly gets back up. It wasn't the perfect steps of his final edited film, but has the impact of feeling more real, and dangerous. Again, maybe why it was part of the earlier edit. This fall fits a series of images where things didn't always go perfectly. |
